Eating PB & J & "Fubbies"

Chase and food have really never went together. He has been so stubborn when it comes to eating, and has found that it is his way of having a power trip over me and Nathan. However, yesterday he miraculously decided he wanted a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with some grapes. I decided to let him eat it away from the table so he could come and go and not be stubborn at the table. He did a pretty good job eating everything, but the jelly on his fingers made them sticky. When he gets sticky fingers, and then touches our brown shag rug, he gets "fubbies" on them which really upsets him. Fubbies are fuzzies, and he hates them because 1. He hates his hands dirty, and 2. He always has to suck on his 2 fingers and this gets "fubbies" in his mouth, which really gets him going. I took these two pictures before he realized the fubbies were there (hence the happy and goofy facial expressions).

Getting Frustrated

Kai has been such a funny baby from day one. He has such emotions, both good and bad, that we can't get over how extreme they can be. I didn't know that 3 month olds could get frustrated, but Kai sure does. He has been getting better at his hand to mouth control, and loves grabbing things and putting them in his mouth, but he can only control his arms and hands for so long before they choose to come out of his mouth. This makes him very mad, especially if he is trying to suck on a toy of his. Yesterday he was throwing fit after fit, that finally I had to stop letting him have toys to play with.

Big Boy Bed

Two nights ago we were given large wall decorations that consisted of a truck and tractor for Chase's room. We put them by his "big boy" bed (the bottom bunk) to hopefully create more of an atmosphere that he would want to be a part of. He has been refusing to sleep in his bed for several months now and we have tried everything. Each time would result in him crying in the room next to his crib, crying "crib" and wanting to get back in where he was used to sleeping. But because of these new decorations, Chase was ready to make the transition on Wednesday night.

So far he has stayed in his bed throughout both nights, and one of the naps during the day. The other times I went in his room to find him sitting or laying on his toy box waiting for me to come in after nap time. This morning, however, I wasn't expecting him to actually fall asleep for his nap because our condo is being painted outside and there are all sorts of noises that would keep him awake. When his nap time was up I went to open the door, expecting to see him doing who knows what. What I found instead was that I couldn't open his door! I didn't want to push too hard, so I went and got a flashlight to shine it under his door's crack to see what the blockade was...it was him! I could see about an inch worth of his ear, his arm, and his leg, he was totally out of it. Me pushing the door into him didn't even wake him, and as I write this he is still sleeping on the floor next to the door. Pretty funny. I was going to try and take a picture, but the crack under the door is too small for the camera to catch anything.

Picture Time!

Today I realized that I dressed Chase and Kai in almost matching outfits, thus I had to take some pictures to capture their matching cuteness. Here is kind of a funny one of Kai. I tried so hard to get them to smile, but they both are obsessed with their fingers/hands that that was a hopeless effort.
FEET!
More fingers...
Chase actually trying to be photogenic.
He used to always love smiling for the camera, now it isn't always the easiest feat.
A semi-decent one of Kai. Of course I was a second too late of capturing his big smile.

Kai's Blessing Day

Kai was finally blessed today on Father's Day. Even thoug heturned 3 months on Friday, we decided to wait to have the blessing when Nathan's mom was able to make it. It was nice waiting so long since Kai behaved like a gentleman, and he fit my little brother Adam's blessing outfit he wore back in 1988 when he was blessed.

Nathan did such a wonderful job blessing him. And since today is Father's Day, I want to also mention how grateful I am to have such a wonderul husband, especially since he is such a great father to both of our boys. He is always involved, helping out so much, as well as playing with them. They both love him so much and are blessed to have such a great dad who cares about them as much as he does. I love you, "Bubbs", Happy Father's Day

Even though our boys didn't want to smile for the camera, we decided to get a family picture after Kai's blessing. It was a good day, and I am so grateful for my 3 boys.

Time for Swimming

Today Nathan took a 1/2 day to be able to come back and spend some more time with his mom who is in town for a few days, so we took advantage of him being home and went out and enjoyed the 90 degree weather. The pool was a little chilly, but it was bearable and Chase sure enjoyed it. Here Chase is doing "kick, kick, kicks".

Of course Kai couldn't miss out on the fun...he decided that taking a nap inside wasn't the best choice and woke up so he could come out and join us.

Here is the little cutie

Here are the boys enjoying the last little bit of cool water before having to go inside.

The Next Tiger?

The golf course across the street is opened for people to come and walk it on Monday nights, since it is closed to its members for upkeep. We often go over there as a family with the double stroller, and then Nathan and Chase stop to do some putting. Last night Kai and I were unable to join them since Kai was tired and I wasn't in the mood to go out in 90 degree weather, but Chase and Nathan, the dedicated golfers, decided to still go. Here is a picture of Chase analyzing the green deciding what club he needs to use to make the shot :). Above is him hitting the ball into the hole. He has learned who Michael Jordan is, now we just need to teach him Tiger Woods.
